When i got to this one i just had to stop and comment, because it touched me so deeply. I've been Muslim for almost 12 years now, from Arkansas and living in Oman. . The way that you described your relationship with your grandmother reminded me of mine and my grandmother;s relationship..how sweet. I have to confess i teared up while reading this post ;-)My grandmother died about 6 months before i became Muslim, so we never had issues regarding my reversion, but , knowing the lady that she was, it wouldnt have phased her for too long! Gotta love southern gramdma's!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2480626322443867152.post-6950835891582735992010-03-28T23:05:08.858-04:002010-03-28T23:05:08.858-04:00Salaam ya'll! Yes there is difference. :-D It's always nice to have other convert sisters to talk with (I love my sisters born into the ummah too!) but reverts know what I mean when I talk about the difficulty with family, etc.

Um Hamza, thanks for reading and commenting! I actually wrote my grandmother back; you know, she's old school and I think letters mean alot to her. Insha'allah she'll get it in a few days; I just hope I can brighten her day like her letter did mine!

Ma salaama....Umm Aaminahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16099550741683256476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2480626322443867152.post-38666780932546816562010-03-28T07:52:21.555-04:002010-03-28T07:52:21.555-04:00Awwww this made me cry too. I think with maturity...Awwww this made me cry too. I think with maturity comes the appreciation of family, and the realization that it's important to keep your ties, even when we know they're not going to change. I'm feeling the same way about some relationships that I've strained, my extended family and such. Give her a phone call, I'm sure she'd love to hear from you :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2480626322443867152.post-12403466890085551512010-03-28T07:16:49.267-04:002010-03-28T07:16:49.267-04:00And, I cried at the end of this post.
