A'salaamu alaikum ya'll. Alternate title: hijabi closet of shame. Most of us have one. Filled to bursting with clothes that a) don't fit b) went out of style 10 yrs ago, c)bought on a splurge and later regretted it or mostly likely, d) a combination of the above. :-)
So I decided to come clean, as it were, and air my secret obsession with clothes I don't wear yet still, for some reason, hang onto. Mostly because I am just so positive I'll lose that 20lbs and then, well won't I have enough clothes! lol
Insha'allah you get some enjoyment out of this; sorry it came out kinda dark. The bedroom only has lamplight, not an overhead, so it maybe isn't stellar quality. Oh and I got inspired by Sr. Mona's recent video efforts.
Ma salaama ya'll!

MashAllah the Shalwar Kameez are so pretty, I have an jilbab that looks simular to the burgundy one, it's not my taste to wear out but it's so pretty I can't part with it. The shoes are cute, funny because I bought some with tags on them at a garage sale with heels just like that for $1.....ack never wore them....so far. Any heels I wear must be thick and rubbery otherwise I'm prone to falling over.
P.S. this might sound funny but your voice was not what I expected, I was expecting more twang because of the "ya'lls" in many of your posts :P
MC, couple of things. One I've been trying FOREVER to leave a comment on your blog and now, can't even leave anons. Grrrr. Not jst yours, a few others. So wanted you to know I'm reading you. :-)
Two, I know!!! I've lost my accent. I listened to it and there used to be a def twang. Honestly, this sounds silly, but I'm a little upset. I mean, that's who I am. I better start listening to country music ASAP. lol Ma salaama!
Ma'ashallah your clothes are beautiful! I own two abayas (since they don't really sell them here and the very few they do are scarily, scarily expensive) Hmmm lucky I don't leave the house too often or think people may think I never change my clothes ;)
Salams! I like your closet collection but what I was most surprised by was your voice! It's so nice and sweet, masha'Allah. :-D Don't ask me what I was expecting, maybe a deeper and more pronounced southern drawl - instead I was like "Oh wow, how cute!" Now I want a southern twang of my own...LOL
Bonnie, I don't know if this will help or not, but if you can pay shipping I would be happy to find a few abayaat for you. Don't know what costs are; my zip is 01749 if you wanna check. I think I have a couple with a bust of only 48". Just let me know insha'allah. :-)
UmmH, I know, right? My accent IS slipping away. Personally I think my voice sounds better now but I miss my southern-sound. It's part of my identity, who I am. Ahhh well alhamdulillah for change right? Thanks for the compliment. :-)
No worries. That must be a little frustrating. not being able to leave comments for some blogs, I wish I were more tech savvy and could help, but I'm terrible with these kinds of things :P. I can ask my husband, mashAllah computers are part of his profession.
InshAllah you and your family are having a blessed Ramadan, take care :)
Aw, your voice really is cute and sweet as is Aminah :)
Thanks, MC; I've tried clearing my cache (only solution I've found) but doesn't work. :-)
Mona, thanks! Like I said, I miss my heavier southern sound but I am sure I sound much more "cultured" this way. LOL And yeah, I did sound sweet... I was like, wtheck?? lol
You are so kind really! And I would have happily paid for shipping rather than pay the scarily high prices here! However because I am both chubby (or as the Imam called me 'healthy') and tallish (5 ft 7) I am probably not going to fit them. Waaah if I could shrink both ways.
Email me, sis, at ana_ashad @ ymail dot com with what length and chest, hip size you need.
You might be surprised; I have some that are longer. Just let me know insha'Allah sis.
Love you fi sabilillah!
