Please introduce yourselves!!!

A'salaamu alaikum ya'll. I did this before and met a couple of lovely sisters masha'Allah! I would really like to hear from some of my readers who span this beautiful, diverse and complex world we live in. I am able to see where people log in from and I would love to get the chance to have a name and a place. :-) I have always been curious about different peoples and different cultures; it's one reason why I love blogging and reading the blogs of others, so we can share our differences and realize our similarities!

So please please pretty please if you haven't done so before, please introduce yourself. Don't be shy; be as long or short as you would like. I would love to have at least a name and a location but, if you don't mind, just tell me a few things about you. I won't post them to my blog if you request they stay private; I am really just curious. :-)

Jazakum Allahu khair,

Umm Aaminah!

Assalamu'alaikum!

I just started reading your blog about a week and a half ago!

I'm from New York. I just moved out to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates with my husband of 3.5 years. He just started a new job with an American company. We wanted to try something new and move to another country...so he applied to their Dubai offices. My goals are to learn Arabic and increase my knowledge of Islam while I have this opportunity to be in the Middle East and not working, Insha'Allah. I've been a bit nervous ever since we've moved about everything...so please keep me in your du'a.

I love this blog because it is full of sincere posts about your life. I love reading about muslimas' life around the world.
I'm from small city of Uzbekistan, live in its capital Tashkent with my husband. I have 3 years old son. I love arts and crafts and respect people who have talents to make beautiful things with their hands. I don't do anything crafty just like to read and watch although I think I shouldn't be afraid to try.

Salam Alaykom! My name is Karla, found your blog, cuz I like to get inspired by Muslimah's stories because I want to be one too... I am a 22 years old Salvadorean English teacher but have to teach sciences and social studies as well... Living with parents(that's why I hesitate about becoming a Muslim...) I love Islam, but my country is Christian in its huge majority whiich shouldn't actually be an obstacle, but it makes it harder to find okhtys to talk to or learn from... I love crafts, quilling, knitting, crotchetin... Dream about opening a bakery, cuz I love cakes, cupcakes, and such (and I know how to make them)... Considering blogging... So I'll say more about myself when I start blogging... Hope someday I can be a happy muslim mommy like you all... ^_^

Assalamu Alaikum! I found your blog a few days ago and I started reading it from the beginning :). My name is Camille, I'm 19 and I'm fron Ontario, Canada and I've been seriously considering converting to islam for a while so I'm reading all kinds of blogs about muslim convert women.

Umm Aaminah said...

Salaam Camille and thanks for stopping by! From all I've heard, Canada is a wonderful country for Muslims (especially the large cities).

I would like to say one thing; I write about things from the perspective of someone who has been on my journey for several years.

I am saying this so you don't feel overwhelmed, as if you have change your entire life overnight! No, that isn't so. We all go at our own pace.

Just as Islam was perfected over 23 years, you too have time for a normal course of events. Yes prayer is mandatory and must be done. Things such as how we dress and talk, who we interact with, and what we do in our spare time, all these changes will come with time and a sincere heart.

Strive to please Allah and ask for His help and you will be amazed at the changes you can make!

Love you for the sake of Allah,

Umm Aaminah

Walaikum salaam Nina! I tried to find a way to message you directly; insha'Allah you get my reply to this.

I looove to meet new convert sisters. I remember how exciting it was, so much to learn, so much to do. :-) Five years later, I do NOT regret my decision.

Hold firm in your desire to wear hijab; insha'Allah He will make it easy for you. You are young sis and have made some big steps; don't be too hard on yourself.

Also recognize when you truly are able to move forward and don't let unimportant things hold you back. :-)

Love you for the sake of Allah.... and thanks for stopping by!
