Interesting interfaith dialogue goin' on

A'salaamu alaikum ya'll. Just a heads up that there's a little interfaith sharing going on in the comments section on the "Moderate Muslim?" post and the "Really? I mean really?" post. Please feel free to check them out and comment if you like. For or against just remember to play by the rules: no insults, name-calling, denigrating the Prophet Muhammad (saws) or any of the other prophets and messengers of Allah, and remember, sticks and stone may break your bones but words can never hurt you! :-D

Thank you for letting me post again. As I have found out, many people become "Christians" due to their parents "being Christians" or because of their social group or location of living. They claim to be "Christians" but know practically NOTHING of Christian Theology or the nature of God, sin, salvation etc. In fact, many hold heretical views of their own so-called faith. It seems to me that people like Um Abdullah and Ummi of Aami would know what I'm talking about. I would just like to actually post what the NT actually teaches who God is and what Christianity is. A big problem is that 1: Most people don't even know what Christianity really teaches and 2: What they do hear or read is oftentimes wrong. I hate to say that many Muslims I've spoken to regard us as Polytheists because we believe God is a Trinity. Sadly the Qu'ran states views that seems to back up this false viewpoint. We DO NOT worship Jesus and Mary as Gods along with the Father. In fact based on Sura 112, 3/4 of Muslims and Christians are in TOTAL AGREEMENT. Anyone who says there is more than One True God is false! God is only One of Being and Essence. The debate is God just One in Person or is God revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit each with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence or being.
Believing in the Trinity is NOT Polytheism. NOR is it Shirk if God is Three Persons of one Essence.
Let me be open to first of all post what Christians believe then hopefully when can get into a good intellectual discussion. Thanks :-)

I don't want to appear to just be proselytizing on here but I do want to show why I am a Christian and what it teaches. Now as a Christian I do have a duty to know and preach the Gospel. Now the Qu'ran said that Jesus had a gospel the injeel but what does Gospel actually mean? Well in Greek it means "Good News". Well what is this "Good News" according to the NT? It is this:
God created and owns everything, including you. – Genesis 1:1, Psalm 24:1
God is perfectly holy. – Matthew 5:48
God requires your perfect obedience to His law. – James 2:10
You have broken God’s law. – Romans 3:10; 23
You will pay the eternal penalty for your sin. – Romans 6:23
You cannot save yourself by your good works. – Titus 3:5
Christ came to earth as both God and sinless man. – Colossians 2:9
Christ demonstrated His love by dying on the cross to pay sin’s penalty. – Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21
Christ rose from the grave and is alive today. – 1 Corinthians 15:4
You must repent of all that dishonors God. – Isaiah 55:7; Luke 9:23
You must believe in Christ as Lord and Savior, and be willing to follow after Him. - Romans 10:9

That's the Gospel message. Now of course the big stickler is how can Jesus be God, isn't that Shirk? Of course if a man became God then that's not only false but blasphemy and evil because it lies about God. God is too Holy and Just to be lied about.
Well the NT teaches that God is not only Trancendent but is also imminent. That is He cares for His creation and desires a personal relationship with humanity not because he needs a relationship. The NT shows that before the creation of the Universe God had relationship with Himself because again He is on Being of Three Persons. No God desires a relationship with us because He is GOOD and Perfect LOVE.
Now as John 1 said the eternal Word of God who is the Second Person of the Godhead came down to us through a virgin and dwelt with us. How did He do this? Well Philippians Chapter 2 tells us:

4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, [1] 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, [2] being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Therefore if The Word did become sinless human flesh as Jesus to fully show us who God is and pay for our Sins when we can not even with "good" thoughts and deeds then saying that Jesus is God and using His title the Son of God is not only NOT shirk but gives GLORY to God the Father who is also FULLY GOD. Ok time to take a break lol
